Friday night is for me—it’s my unwinding time. Often I’ll watch Dateline, but I also enjoy bad made-for-TV movies. Especially if they are really bad. Or feature Tony Danza trying to do a southern accent. I guess that’s the same thing.

Now, let’s talk about the layout.

• The design of this page started in a different place than it ended. I originally went with a grid, but the size of the photos and cards didn’t leave much room for embellishments. Once I got to this stage, I knew I wouldn’t be happy with the result. So I set aside the cards, pulled up the adhered title (ouch), and started over. That gave the layout a lot more breathing room.
• The sketch I used is from a paid sketch class.
• This layout has less embellishing than I’m used to, but I still like the way it turned out. And I love the pop of yellow.
• I used three journaling spots from my stash. Only one is for actual journaling, but that’s OK.

I am working my way through the projects I created at last year’s Victoria Marie scrapbook retreat. I thought I had posted this one ages ago, but I checked, and nope. So it’s up now.

I definitely have a lot to say about this layout.

• I used a magazine ad as inspiration for this page.
• I ended up being glad I hadn’t posted this layout before. I came across it a little while ago and just didn’t feel like it was complete. So I added some embellishments: flair, diecuts, and a tag. I feel better about it now.
• Having said that, not every layout can be perfect. With some, you just have to tell yourself it’s finished and move on. That’s what I ultimately did here. I love the photo, color scheme, and chipboard, but I don’t feel like there is an obvious place for journaling. Not every page needs journaling, but I notice the absence on this particular layout. Also, there is too much—or maybe not enough?—white space. I can’t quite put my finger on why; it just feels like there is something off about this page. But I don’t care. I’m gonna put it in an album and go to the next one.

Now, let’s talk about the layout.

• I’m trying to make a small dent in my Felicity Jane stash. All the patterned paper I used is from their kits.
• Here’s the page that inspired the design of this layout.
• This page features a wide variety of embellishments: diecuts, puffy stickers, stickers, and more. Can someone tell me the best way to use pinwheels on a page? The shape is so odd I never feel like I know where to place them. If you have any tips, please share.

I went to visit my wingman and took a bunch of selfies. Great idea, right? Well, take a closer look at these selfies . . .

And now, let’s look at the layout.

• I created the page for a National Scrapbook Day challenge to use a grid design. That made the design easy–just two rows of 3 x 4 photos and cards. There was a small issue because the photos were horizontal while the cards were vertical. I got around this by cropping an inch from the cards.
• Because so much of the layout is flat paper, I wanted to add some dimensional elements as well. I used some wood veneer (the “hot mess” circle) and chipboard in colors that went with the photos.
• I keep my branding strips together in a bag (see photo below) so I can use them on a project. Two of them frame the photos.

Some pictures are so good you want to make them the center of your layout. That’s definitely true for this one.

So, let’s talk about the layout.

• Here’s the sketch I used for this layout. It’s a fun sketch because it can be used in a couple of ways. The big section on the right can be a large photo or it can be patterned paper. I used it as patterned paper on this layout.
• I was already a fan of the blue floral patterned paper, but it’s perfect with the dress on the left. Love the way they look together.
• I had a lot of journaling to do on this layout, so it was easy to choose paper for the right side of the page. A simple lined paper was great for journaling and a good contrast to the busy paper on the left.

Let’s talk about the layout.

• The stamp set definitely deserves a mention. I received it from Angie Rushlow, a scrapper and fellow Forensic Files fan I met at last year’s Victoria Marie Scrapbook Retreat. I love this set to pieces. The body outline is a thing of beauty! Thank you, Angie!
• I “finished” this layout a few months ago but it’s been sitting because I wondered if the background was too plain. I finally decided it’s not, so here it is.
• I chose the color scheme from the photo.

As I mentioned before, this layout is a milestone. I now have 150 process videos posted. Hope you enjoy this one!
