National Shopping . . . er, Scrapbook Day

fills my days

This year I’ve been telling myself that I will think about every scrappy purchase before I make it–and it had still better be on sale. So I’ve been quite proud of myself for my restraint. Except I’m not too sure it’s working. Sure, I’m holding off on (most) full-price purchases. But I’ve been bringing home several bags of stuff. Great stuff, absolutely. And it’s on sale. But it’s still more stuff! Do I really need more stuff? The answer is no, I don’t.

But the truth is, if the National Scrapbook Day sales this weekend are good enough, I am still going to buy. I’ve started my NSD shopping already with some random embellishments and stamps. Um, oops? Don’t know what else to say. I’m also hoping to see Ali Edwards put some of her kits on sale. And I’ll probably be tempted by something else that comes along . . .

But after this weekend I’m not just going to think about each purchase–I’m going to rethink it and rethink some more. After all, it would be nice if scrapbooking could go back to filling my days without filling other areas of the house. Unless it’s with completed scrapbook pages. 🙂

Misty Eyed

This has been a year for new scrapbooking organization. My scraproom is still very much a work in progress, but I’ve made some headway in a few areas, such as spray inks. Spray ink is one of my obsessions favorite products, and I’ve collected a lot of them over the years. Dozens of them. Multiple dozens. But until lately, I’ve struggled with storing them. I think I’ve finally figured it out.

mist storage

It’s big. And it was expensive. But I don’t care. I like having my spray ink in one place. The top two tiers spin, which makes it easy to find what I need. And there’s room to grow, though I’m not planning to add to my collection. I think I have enough to last a while.

I made swatches for each color, so I know what I have and can choose the one that will work best with each layout.

So that’s my collection of spray ink. Now, to figure something out for my Thickers . . .

What’s your obsession favorite product? Please share in the comments.

Kinda Revealing

Good Day

The tenth of each month is kind of a special day. It’s the day my Felicity Jane kit ships (except when it falls on a Sunday, like today; it will ship tomorrow instead). It’s the day the new Messy Box is revealed. And it’s the day to see new products from Elle’s Studio. Here’s how things usually go.

  • I am always excited to get my Felicity Jane kit. It’s a great mix of papers and products.
  • I like one or two items in the Messy Box . . . and pray that they will stop including papers and accessories with a lip motif. I keep thinking I will cancel my subscription. And then I don’t.
  • Seems like I love the Elle’s Studio kit every other month or so; sometimes they are too themey for me. But they always have some accessories I want.

It’s the tenth! I’m excited to see what’s in store with the product reveals today.

Edited to add: I’ve just checked things out. The Messy Box is meh as usual–only a couple of lips this time. And what am I supposed to do with a paper featuring denim shorts on it? But there are some fun images too. As for Elle’s Studio, I pretty much bought everything in this month’s kit. 🙂

Pretty Paper

Let’s be honest here, people. I’ve been scrapping for nearly 20 years. I have plenty of patterned paper. Plenty. I do not need more patterned paper. Yet somehow, when I went to Tuesday Morning, I ended up leaving with these in hand.

Paper Everywhere

I would ask how this happened except I know exactly how it happened. I make myself justify any paper purchase I make these days. I bought the stack on the left because I am a sucker for script writing. And even the non-scripty papers are fun and use colors I love. I bought the stack on the left because I was feeling a bit nostalgic. Plus, look at those florals! They are fabulous.

My next step: make the purchase worthwhile by using some of this paper.
