Portrait

I was looking through photos when I came across this wallet-sized portrait of one of my nieces. I decided it had languished in the pile long enough.

I used a Page Maps sketch for the design. I also accepted a challenge from Scrapbook Challenges to use multiples of one shape to make another shape. During my scraproom organization, I realized I have a lot of buttons and wanted to do something with them. So I dumped out a bunch of pink ones and made a chevron border with them. The result is I got to use up a bunch of buttons and make a layout with a stashometer rating of 32%.

Do you have a surplus of any particular supply? What do you do to use them up?

This Girl Is My Happy

There is no end to the photo strips I have to scrapbook. Here is my latest.

My sweet niece and me

Let’s talk about the layout.

  • This layout is part of my Something Old, Something New series. The black and white puffy stickers are from a 2015 Felicity Jane kit. The floral vellum pieces are from one of this year’s kits.
  • I used this page to inspire the design of my layout. I love this design and will definitely use it again.
  • I have so many Thickers! I am trying to use them more often, so I used them for the title here.

Horror Is Better Together

How many photos at the movie theater are too many? Answer: there’s no such thing as too many movie photos!

Another installment in the horror movie chronicles

Let’s talk about the layout.

  • Gimme all the blue! The photo and the patterned paper both have a few different shades of blue, and I wanted to incorporate that on the rest of the layout. So I went in search of blue embellishments.
  • This layout is a great example of tucking small elements into the empty spaces. For example, I added a heart next to the word “better” in the title; I placed the “chill” washi tape under the word “together”; I stamped the date in the space between “better” and “together.” This is a fun technique to fill in small gaps.
  • I used this layout as a starting place for my page.

Get Cozy

I took this picture of my Cue-man and absolutely had to scrapbook it.

My darling Cupid getting cozy in the scraproom

Let’s talk about the layout.

  • This layout is part of my Scrap Start series, where I start with a scrap and build my layout from there. I’ve had that striped paper for ages and wanted to use it in a big block on a layout. I was able to do that here.
  • I got to use lots of older stickers and ephemera. So much fun!
  • I love how the tag looks as part of the main cluster. I need to use tags this way more often.

There’s so much more about this layout. You know what to do: check out the process video.

Sparkle

My friend and I went to the Hall of Breakfast, an interactive museum with different rooms with a breakfast theme. I’ve been slowly scrapbooking the photos. This photo was taken in the egg room.

Fif and me at the Hall of Breakfast

Let’s talk about the layout.

  • This layout is part of my Stash Dive series, where I start with a piece of patterned paper from my stash as my background. Then I use other stash items as I can. And this layout definitely uses lots of stash.
  • The patterned paper background gave me the opportunity to use many chipboard flowers. I chose flowers with a more cartoon-style look.
  • Because I’ve scrapped so many photos about the Hall of Breakfast, I decided to tell a different story about this layout. So the journaling talks about my friendship and the things my friend and I have done together.

Of course, there’s always more. Check out my process video to see and hear all about how this layout came together.

This Is Happiness

Concerts are one of my favorite things, so I decided to scrapbook some photos from a concert I attended a few years ago.

David Archuleta in concert

Let’s talk about the layout.

  • I used lots of scraps for this layout. I’ve had the ampersand paper for a long time. I’m pleased to finally use some of it.
  • There were originally some hearts on the grid paper I used as the background. The color scheme of the hearts didn’t work with my other papers, so I ended up covering the hearts instead. It’s all about making your supplies work for you.
  • I like this page but it’s not one of my favorites. They can’t all be a favorite, right? Looking back, I might have liked it better if I’d added some circles to break up some of the lines a little.

Love Right Here

Can I just say how much I adore this boy? He is my little sweetheart, and I will never get tired of creating scrapbook pages about him.

My little Clayton on his puffy pillow

Let’s talk about the layout.

  • Big thanks to karinec at Two Peas Refugees for gifting me with several oval embellishments. I used a gray one on this layout, and it inspired the title as well.
  • The photo inspired the yellow and gray color scheme. I added a pop of navy blue as well and really like this addition.
  • I initially tried using three of the stitched hearts like the one at the bottom left of the page. They were too overwhelming, however, so I replaced two of them with smaller gold hearts and like the results much better.

Of course, there is a process video, so you can watch how this layout comes together.

I’ll be back with another video. See you soon!

Eclipse Goodies

My coworkers and I had an eclipse party during the solar eclipse a few years ago, and I took a picture of the goodies everyone brought to mark the occasion. I finally got it scrapbooked.

So many eclipse-themed goodies!

Let’s talk about the layout.

  • This page took a long time to finish. I started it one way and moved to something else. I think the background paper is part of the struggle. It’s a cupcake sprinkle pattern from an old Felicity Jane kit. That pattern seemed very appropriate thematically, but it’s a little busier than a plain background, so I kept questioning it. In the end, I like it.
  • I used up most of my remaining 2 x 2 cards from old Messy Box (no longer in business) kits. I think I have two left, so yay me!
  • I love all the colors on this page but especially appreciate the pop of red.

As always, there’s more information about how this layout came together. You can see it in my process video.

Hope you enjoy! I’ll see you again soon.

This Is So Sweet

I love attending fan conventions, and I have several photos yet to scrapbook. Here’s one of them.

David Tennant and Me

Let’s talk about the layout.

  • I started creating this one at the 2018 Victoria Marie Scrapbook Retreat and finished it this past weekend. I changed the title and added lots of little bits because there can always be more embellishments.
  • The coral letters of the title are from a clear sticker book that I’ve barely touched before now. I need to make sure these get used more often, because the book comes with letters in four different colors! Lots of titles waiting to come to life.
  • Choosing the patterned paper for this layout was tough. Partly because of the blue background of the photo. I’m happy with how things worked out in the end.

There are lots more details behind the creation of this layout. Learn more in my process video.

If He Fits, He Sits

I love creating layouts about my boys. This one features Cupid.

If He Fits, He Sits layout

Let’s talk about the layout.

  • This page started with a different title: It’s Cupid’s House–We Just Live Here. I’m still going to use the title for a page, but it wasn’t quite the right one for this one.
  • The color stripes at the bottom of the patterned paper determined the color scheme of this layout. I am especially fond of the pops of blue.
  • That wood veneer has been languishing in my stash for a while. It’s so nice to finally put it to use. I love how the color matches the background paper.

There are a few surprises in how this layout came together. You can check them out in the process video.
