Merry + Bright

I love this layout, and I don’t know if it’s because of the layout or because of how wonderful it was to hang out with my friend Mary Elizabeth. She came to town earlier this month for work, and we spent some time together.

Merry + Bright (700x651)

Let’s talk about the layout.

  • The patterned papers are from a Christmas-themed Fairytale Club kit.
  • Here’s the sketch I used for my design.
  • I chose the Merry + Bright card because it makes a nice title and I like the contrast of the black. I added a few other small black stickers to create a visual triangle.

Here is the process video; please excuse my hoarse voiceover. I was recovering from a cold.

I’ll be back soon with another holiday layout. Until then, take care. 🙂

So Cute & Cozy

Because nothing says Christmas like a scrapbook page about socks. Hey, they are warm, cozy, and adorable socks. 🙂

So Cute & Cozy

Let’s talk about the layout.

  • I use a lot of Messy Box supplies on this layout. I love their designs even if their kits didn’t seem to coordinate all that well. I’ve got a bunch still left to use, but this layout made a small dent in my cards.
  • Here’s the layout that inspired my design.
  • The title was originally “So cozy,” but the top of the page needed more visual weight to counter-balance the bottom. So I added the gold part of the title as well. Which led me to add a gold doily and gold phrase stickers to maintain continuity.

Feel free to check out the process video!

I’m working on more holiday layouts; I’ll post again soon. Until then, take care.

So Lovely

My first Christmas layout of the year! Well, sort of.

So Lovely (700x672)

Let’s talk about the layout.

  • I had a totally different background going on with this page. I thought it looked too busy, though, so I switched it out for a new one. I used texture paste on both backgrounds but I used white on white for the second one, and I think that kept things from being too overwhelming.
  • Even though I am posting this layout now, I created this page last December. When I pulled it out to do the process video, I decided it wasn’t quite finished, so I added the phrase stickers and other stickers. I added the date as well.
  • The soft colors of this layout make me smile. I like traditional red/green Christmas layouts but non-conventional colors are fun too.

If you want to see how this layout evolved, check out my process video.

Be back soon with another layout. Until next time. 🙂

Joy

I scrapbooked this pic a few months ago. I figured since it was about time for the second annual Victoria Marie retreat, I needed to scrapbook this photo from the first one.

Joy

Let’s talk about the layout.

  • I struggled at first about where to put the journaling. The striped pattern paper was a simple solution.
  • I auditioned a few doilies before I chose this one. Another one I tried was just too big.
  • I created the hearts with a template and texture paste.

Here’s the process video.

Hope you enjoy. Until next time. 🙂

Crazy Good Right Now

Time for another photo strip layout. Love these pics of my niece Stephanie and me.

Right Now

Let’s talk about the layout:

  • I hosted a challenge on the Victoria Marie Facebook Group. The challenge I chose was to incorporate memorabilia, and so I put the movie tickets on my layout.
  • I used lots of little bits and pieces when it came to the embellishments. Rub-ons I bought several years ago. These did not turn out as I’d hoped, and I wonder if it’s because I put them on top of areas where I used mist. You can sort of see them, but I wanted them to stand out a bit more.
  • I also included several stickers from sticker books and sticker sheets. And the “Oh sh*t” embellishment is from a pocket page card. I just cut it out with a circle cutter.

You can check out the process video here.

Until next time. 🙂

Enjoy the Little Things

It isn’t every day you get your picture taken with Spiderman. Or that Spiderman gives you a lift. I was lucky enough to get a ride, and it was definitely a scrapworthy moment.

Enjoy the Little Things

Let’s talk about the layout.

  • I used this sketch for my layout. Since I didn’t have two photos for my page, I used one photo along with a 4 x 6 card.
  • I have mixed feelings about the text paper I used as the background paper. It’s a great pattern, but I think the two patterned papers with text on them compete a bit. If I were doing it over, I’d probably choose something different for the background.
  • Speaking of do-overs, I’d probably find another place for the journaling. I feel like it’s all crowded in the spot available for it. I might have done hidden journaling underneath the photo or on a tag tucked behind the photo. But I don’t dislike this page enough to redo it.

Thanks so much for visiting. Until next time. 🙂

Laugh Today

Sometimes I scrapbook amazing photos that are almost artistic. Then there are photos like this . . .

Laugh Today

As you can see, it’s not a perfect photo. But I love the story behind it, and that’s why I scrapbooked it. Let’s talk about the layout.

  • I did a lot of multimedia on this page. I started by adding ink to the background and then layering gold texture paste in three places on the layout.
  • I used this layout as inspiration for the design of my page.
  • The wood veneer pieces were the last things I added to this layout. They add a nice bit of dimension.
  • I’m including a closeup of the journaling below so you can read the story behind the photo. My sister and I laughed so much when I went through my photos later and we saw this one.

Thank you for visiting. Until next time! 🙂

Model Behavior

A soft color scheme was perfect for this photo of me and my niece Stephanie.

Model Behavior

Let’s talk about the layout.

  • I used the multicolor stripe paper to come up with the color scheme for this page. It was a little tricky because I kept finding adorable pink and orange embellishments. But I use pink so often in my scrapbooking that I wanted to do something different on this layout. I’m delighted with the results.
  • Here is the sketch I used for this layout.
  • The yellow script and floral paper is from my stash. It is a very thin, single-sided design that I’ve had since the early 2000s, so this layout is part of my Something Old, Something New series. I considered using it as the background for this page, but it would have been too overwhelming.

For more information about this layout, check out the process video below.

Until next time! 🙂

Protector

I love creating layouts about my two little fuzzy butts. This one features Curly Cue.

Protector (700x646)

Let’s talk about the layout.

  • I have lots of scraps, and I’m making an effort to use them more often. I pulled out and used a bunch here.
  • I used this layout as a sketch for my page.
  • The brown triangle paper is actually a heavyweight diecut. It was originally a vanilla color that I misted so it would coordinate with the multicolored patterned paper.
  • I love this color scheme! I just went with the colors of the dog-themed paper. And speaking of that paper, it helped me choose the background paper as well. I love how the light gray woodgrain paper looks with it.

If you want to know more about this page, check out the process video.

Thanks for stopping by. See you next time. 🙂

This Is How I Roe

I decided to do something with a bunch of my selfies from earlier this year. That’s how this layout came to be.

How I Roe

Let’s talk about the layout.

  • Here’s the sketch I used for the design of this page.
  • The number of patterned papers combined with the four photos make this layout pretty busy. For this reason, I kept the embellishments minimal in two small clusters.
  • I created this layout for a challenge to scrapbook a selfie. Since I used four photos, I guess I’m an overachiever. 🙂

Of course there’s more to this process. You can watch and learn more in this video.

Thank you for visiting! Until next time.
